Do I need a license to become a Certified Triathlon Coach?
No! A license is usually issued by a city, county, state or national agency when a policy has been mandated. In those cases, a license would be required to perform the specific work. On the other hand, a certification shows that you have fulfilled given requirements to perform the work. Certificates are issued by organizations, associations or schools. Licenses are given (in most cases) by a government agency. Coaches are not required to be licensed in ANY state. You can conduct your coaching business in any way you choose. NOTE: A business license may be required by your city. If so, the fee is usually under $50.

"As a physical therapist, researcher, and avid triathlete I have been thoroughly impressed with the ITCA certification.  I have gained a tremendous amount of evidence-based knowledge that has refined my training strategies and tactics, which will ultimately improve the performance of my clients.  The online approach was very smooth considering the ease of completing the necessary assignments while the discussion boards offer a great forum to share information with other coaches and faculty."
