is ITCA and what gives them the authority to issue a certification?
ITCA is a professional triathlon organization, and the triathlon certification division of NESTA (National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association), an international fitness association. NESTA has over 45,000
members around the world. NESTA is one of the largest fitness
associations in America, and the fastest growing fitness association
in the world. We are a California corporation that has been
leading the fitness education industry since 1992 offering fitness certifications
and business development systems for our members around the world.
Our programs are used on every continent
and in over 50 countries. Our Personal Fitness Trainer Certification program is nationally accredited by National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) and a member of the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NOCA).
ITCA's triathlon coaching
program is designed to enhance the sport by making it more
accessible to all levels of athletes and coaches who are interested
in working with various types of athletes, not just the elites. Our educational materials take any existing knowledge to the highest level.
How does ITCA align itself with the USAT
(USA Triathlon)? We recognize USAT as the governing
body of the sport of triathlon in America. All ITCA grads must follow USAT rules.

How does the ITCA Triathlon Coach Certification compare to other triathlon coaching programs? We feel our program is the most comprehensive training program in the world for triathlon coaches. Yes. ITCA has a strategic partnership with Fitness and Wellness Insurance. After successful completion of your training program, you can acquire the policy that serves you best.

How much triathlon experience do I need before enrolling
in this program? If you simply want to take the program for personal growth
(and not take the test), you can enroll without any prerequisites.
If you desire to complete the entire program within the allotted
time, you must have the following prerequisites: Minimum 18
years of age, high school diploma or GED, sports & fitness
background with at least 6 months of triathlon training experience,
and valid CPR certification.
If you are just starting out as a Triathlon Coach you may be asking: How do I make a living and conduct business as a Certified Triathlon Coach?
ITCA provides assistance for coaches to integrate programming to and from their athletes in many formats including: online, one-on-one, clinics, couples, small group, large group, etc.
You will also be qualified to become a Polar heart rate monitor distributor, once certified by placing annual purchases of 25 monitors or more; be a resource for your athletes to purchase the Polar RS800CX and make an average of *$200.00 per sale.
*average per unit gross profit as an ITCA student for the RS800CX model only. Requires application approval from Polar Electro, credit check and additional information as required in the application. RS800CX MSRP is $419.95; RS800MULTI MSRP is $499.95. Other restrictions may apply.
Since we have yearly 20 years experience in the business of sports and fitness,
we will teach you all that is needed to ensure your financial
success as a professional triathlon coach. ITCA and NESTA offer fitness business development programs to assist you with software solutions, web development,
search engine marketing, branding and incorporation (if desired). Coaches who apply our business practices can earn well over $100,000
per year.
Do I need a license to become a Certified Triathlon
Coach?
No! A license is usually issued by a city, county,
state or national agency when a policy has been mandated.
In those cases, a license would be required to perform the
specific work. On the other hand, a certification shows that
you have fulfilled given requirements to perform the work.
Certificates are issued by organizations, associations or
schools. Licenses are given (in most cases) by a government
agency. Coaches are not required to be licensed in ANY state.
You can conduct your coaching business in any way you choose. NOTE: A business license may be required by your city.
If so, the fee is usually under $50.
